Fifth placed Coventry City travel to Sixth Placed Accrington Stanley for a thrilling encounter between two sides boasting almost identical records after 12 games played.

Both teams have had impressive starts to the season with seven wins, two draws and three loses. Despite this Coventry have the best defensive record in the league conce

ding only six goals all season, with only one of them being conceded away from home.

After three wins on the bounce, Coventry enter this contest on the heels of  a 2-2 draw at Walsall, followed by

a 0-0 draw away at Barnett in front of the TV cameras, something which City manager Mark Robins described as “Rubbish” in a BBC post-match interview.

As for Accrington Stanley, the Lancashire side have also dropped off in the past 2 weeks losing two in a row after only losing 1 of the previous 10. They were comfortably brushed aside in a 2-0 loss to Luton at the weekend which saw them climb to third in the league and Accrington dropping to fifth.

Accrington also announced top scorer Billy Kee signing a new contract until 2021 this week, something the striker has described as being “Delighted with” after netting seven league goals this season.

This is the first competitive matchup between these sides since 1959/60 season and only the fifth side time they’ve played competitively in both the club’s history.

It also comes only 2 months after the sides met in a preseason friendly, a game in which Coventry came out as comfortable winners, knocking four past Accrington Stanley on the day.
