On the frontline in Washington for the 2016 Presidential election and leading the Guardian’s coverage of Brexit: Dan Roberts comes to Leeds trinity Journalism and Media Week to talk about the “state of the modern news media”.

Dan Roberts is a prize-winning journalist with 25 years of experience in the field and the newsroom.

He started as a reporter for the Yorkshire Evening Press in York before becoming business editor of the Financial Times, the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph group.

Mr Roberts has led large teams for the Guardian on some of the most controversial and hotly debated issues of recent times, as Washington Bureau Chief during the 2016 presidential election and as Brexit editor until May of this year.

He told the Yorkshire Voice: “My aim is to talk about the state of the modern news media, particularly based on my recent experience of covering Brexit, US politics and the financial crisis.”

After a long and successful career in the media he is currently a partner at Brunswick Group, where he works with companies in the public eye, advising them how to handle a range of financial, political and social challenges.

“I might also touch on life in the media industry after journalism and my recent move into corporate communications.”

The talk is in the Mary Hallaway Lecture Theatre, Leeds Trinity University, Monday 5 November at 2pm.
