Cambridge looking to return to winning ways against The Glovers

By Matthew Sweeting

Shaun Derry’s Cambridge United are going through a tough spell but a mid-table clash against Yeovil Town could be a good chance to put that right. United have failed to win in their last three league fixtures, four in all competitions.

On half of the pitch, Darren Way’s men are coming off the back of an impressive 2-0 win against Crewe Alexandra. The Somerset side could be without their two top goal scorers, as Olufela Olomola faces a late fitness test and Francois Zoko is banned.

The last time these two sides met was on Valentine’s Day, a day to forget for Yeovil as The U’s scored a last minute equaliser through Barry Corr.

The Glovers have the chance to leapfrog Cambridge in the League two table currently sitting two points behind 15th placed United. This is the 10th meeting between the two sides, and the Cambridge manager believes it is very important to get a reaction from his players at the Cambs Glass Stadium.

Derry said: “It’s a big game on Tuesday night at home against Yeovil. It’s a game when I’m expecting us to take the positivity of this afternoon and look to have a dominant night.

“It is going to be easy? Of course it isn’t. But we’ll have a good go at trying.”

Club captain Leon Legge could be in line for a return to the starting 11 again after suspension, if Derry decides to withdraw on-loan George Taft following his debut last week.

For the Green and Whites, they will also be without Daniel Alfei with a long term knee injury. Brazilian winger Alefe Santos could come into Darren Way’s thoughts ahead of this game as he continues to push for a place in the starting 11.
