The public will no longer be able to leave memorial tributes at beauty spots run by Bradford Council.

Further memorial benches will no longer be allowed at Bingley South bog, Ilkley’s Cow and Calf rocks, Baildon Moor and parts of Penistone Hill.

Bradford Council have also decided to stop people leaving floral tributes at various sites affected by the new policy that was approved by the executive yesterday. Any tributes already at sites affected will be removed once they have died off.

Coun Val Slater, Executive Member for Planning, Transport and Highways, said: “We do understand that many people want to leave a special tribute to a loved one, perhaps in a favourite place, and want to support them doing this. But we also have to balance this with the need to protect our countryside, parks and woodland for future generations. We hope these guidelines will accommodate both these needs.”

The sites affected are Bingley South and North Bogs, Balidon Moor, Ilkley Moor, Shipley Glen, Penistone Hill, Harden Moor, Keighley Tarn, Lister Park, Roberts Park, Harold Park, Central Park, Peel Park and St Ives Estate.
