Home-grown Yorkshire produce will be celebrated this month when a two-day food and drink festival is held in Hall Park, Horsforth.

More than 50 producers are expected to showcase their wares at the festival, which will be held on July 25 and 26. Stalls will offer food cooked by local artisans but inspired by cuisine from all around the world , including street food, paellas, Greek chicken, Jamaican food and crepes.

22 year-old Rebecca Brookes from Lincoln said: “It’s great to get people from all over the place showing the good produce and it might encourage people to look locally as people tend to go to big supermarkets only, so it’s a good way of advertising”.

Drinks will get a pride of place with real ale and speciality bars, with beer tastings being on the agenda.

The event will also be buzzing with live music, involving Refried Radio and others artists like Elliott Roberts, Toby Cooper, Martin Rose and Goodnight Dakota.

The Horsforth Food and Drink festival will be family-friendly, and include creative activities like cooking classes to learn how to make Rainbow Salad or Chocolate Delights, and workshops to learn clown skills and balloon modelling.

A fun fair will entertain children, who can go for a ride or take pictures with the Disney princesses from Frozen.

Last summer, the festival took place in Wetherby and was a resounding success as 9,500 foodies attended the event.
