Longstanding traditional greengrocer in Leeds saved by local community group Headingley Development Trust

A 100-year-old greengrocer in Headingley has been saved for the community, after a local enterprise group bought out the business.

The shop in North Lane was facing closure after the former owner, Keith Harris, retired two years ago.

His family decided to sell up the business and approached the Headingley Development Trust (HDT), a community enterprise which is working to support the area.

HDT Chair, Helen Seymour, said that although the takeover took much longer than expected, local shoppers are delighted to see the store open again under a new name, The Headingley Greengrocer.
