Leeds University student Richard Mayne who is believed to have died in the aircrash in the Ukraine.

A Leeds University student, who raised over £1,000 for charity, has died in the Ukraine passenger aircrash. 20-year-old Richard Mayne, a Maths and Finance undergraduate, was among the 298 passangers and crew onboard the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17. The plane appears to have been shot down over a conflict zone on Thursday afternoon.

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a 67-year-old woman at a property on Talbot Avenue in Moortown, North Leeds. Officers were contacted by a man at 10pm last night concerning a woman who was found dead. West and North Yorkshire Police forces began enquiries to find the man due to concerns over his welfare.
