Vintage heaven with a thriving nightlife – Headingley has something for everyone

By Kudzai Chinembiri

Stuck on places to visit after lockdown is over? You have come to the right place my friend.

If you are a university student, I’m almost positive you have either heard of Headingley or have lived there yourself. It’s no secret Headingley has become home to thousands of students over the years which has made it one of the most popular places to socialise.

Not only is Headingley a popular suburb for its modern restaurants, cafés and amazing transport links, but just as much for its historical sites such as the Cottage Road Cinema which is the oldest lasting cinema in Leeds.

So if you are in the mood for a vintage yet modern day out, then Headingley is the place to be; on the topic of vintage locations, the infamous Otley Road takes the cake when it comes to the array of charity shops to look at providing something for everyone at affordable prices.

The nightlife in Headingley is undoubtedly a well-liked part of living in the suburb, and the legendary Otley run takes place in the heart of Headingley.

Going on a 16-stop pub crawl can make for some of the best memories with your friends so don’t be alarmed if you ever see a group of young people in wacky fancy dress costumes, it’s just a normal day in Headingley.

But enough about students if you are interested in living or starting a family in Headingley here is all the information you need.

The overall average price for a property in Headingley is over £226,691 for detailed information on house prices visit: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/headingley.html

One of my favourite things about living in Headingley isn’t just the quirky little coffee shops you find walking about. It is the unique atmosphere that you feel when you are there, it’s the arts and culture that really makes Headingley stand out from other surrounding suburbs. There’s just no other place like it.

If you’re still not convinced that Headingley is a place you need to visit, here is a small list of things to do in Headingley:

  • Visit Sue Ryder charity shop
  • Watch a movie at Hyde Park Picture House
  • Take a trip to ITV studios and get ‘The Emmerdale Studio Experience’ situated just 1.4 miles from Emerald Headingley Stadium
  • Bask in some self care at Cottagehouse Skincare Centre
  • Headingley Town Centre, pictured by Helen Pickering of the Headingley Leeds Website.

Of course the current global pandemic sort of puts a damper on things but fear not because Headingley produces some fabulous greenery for you to bask in whilst on your daily walk, jog or run, whether that is in Woodhouse Moor or West Park Fields.
